In the last few years, the Jewish Gay and Lesbian Group has striven to make the Group as inclusive of women as possible. Only a few years ago the membership consisted mainly of men with only a handful of women members. But over the last few years, we have taken steps to ensure that the mix of men and women is more equal in the Group and women's membership is now very much on a 50:50 ratio with men. This is a fantastic feat and we now have a woman president.
The way we have increased women's membership is to organise regular and varied women's events. These range from restaurant evenings, through to creative writing workshops, bowling evenings, discussion groups and pamper evenings. The restaurant evenings are always held in affordable restaurants, often with set menus, and are always located somewhere easy to reach with good vegetarian options.
We are always open to members' suggestions for an evening event, so please do feel free to suggest something and email us!
We acknowledge that for some women coming along to a JGLG event for the first time can be intimidating, so we are always available to meet and greet you beforehand if you prefer.
